We all know the story of Spirit. How he escaped the wranglers twice, bonded friendship with the Indian boy, Little Creek, and won over Rain's heart. Or did she win over his? Decide for yourself. Getting back to the point...
This is Spirit and Rain living out their days with Spirit's herd. There are some other herds here as well, and wranglers, who camp in some areas. All was well for a while. But then tragedy struck...
Wranglers had gone to extreme limits. The Colonel decided if he couldn't have Spirit, he'd make Spirit miserable at least. Through a flurry of ropes, horses, and wranglers, somehow Rain was caught and roped several times. Though the struggle was long and hard, the wranglers used ropes and whips to pull Rain away, and more to restrain Spirit until she was out of view. Despite Spirit's many efforts, he never got her back. She is now forced to live within the wrangler's stables. Spirit still tries often to free her, even if it means he gets caught. There is nothing that will stop him...
